Defending male and female champions, Kano Pillars and Safety Babes are still maintaining their winning streaks three days into the on going Prudent Energy Handball Premier league at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
The Pillars yesterday dismissed the Benue Buffaloes by 37 – 24 as their female counterparts, Safety Babes reigned supreme over the Defender Babes beating them by 31 – 22.
Still basking in the euphoria of their three wins from three games, an elated coach of the Pillars Handball team, Solomon Yola did not mince words in saying that their mission this year’s Prudent Energy Handball Premier League is to retain their title as champions, but, first have to win every game in the competition to win the first phase of the championship.
“Our mission in this year’s championship is to win every game, win the first phase of the competition.The team is well motivated to go on full throttle, when the players areotivated executing the game’s plan become so easy. We crop of young players that want to.make names for themselves. For us every game is important because every team here is a potential champion”, said Yola.
In the same vane, former champions, Niger United of Minna defeated Confluence Stars. The Minna giants defeated Confluence Stars 37-28 to continue to set their eyes on reclaiming the title.
In other games in the male category, Police Machine inflicted the third defeat on Owena Kings. The game ended 26–21. While in the female category, the famous Imo Grasshoppers of Owerri drew with Rima Queens of Sokoto 37-37 as Seasiders Queens of Lagos walked overKada Queens of Kaduna by 10 – 0
