Singer and entrepreneur, Oluwatosin Ajibade, aka Mr Eazi, has released a short film to herald his forthcoming album.
The film titled, ‘The Legalise Art Experience’ was directed by Demola Falomo and it documents the singer’s collaboration with Benin-based painter, Patricorel.
According to a statement sent to Saturday Beats, the short film which also doubles as a documentary captures Eazi’s first time performing ‘Legalize’, the first single from his forthcoming debut album, as Patricorel creates the single’s artwork onsite for an intimate audience.
Eazi noted that the project was inspired by his growing interest in acquiring African art, and that the yet-to-be-titled album is ‘a collection of art pieces’. According to him, each single from the album will be represented in the form of a series of uniquely commissioned pieces from different African visual artists. He added that the pieces will be ‘tokenised’ and shared with the public through specially curated metaverse and physical events.
Speaking about the project, Mr Eazi said, “Just like Patricorel, I see the instrumental as a canvas. It is a plain canvas and no one knows what one will create. What struck me was the fact that he represents love with his pieces, but he draws with skeletons. I think skeletons are our most human, naked form.”
