Manchester United face yet another obstacle as they try to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, with Chelsea set to submit a bid for the player, according to Relevo.
The Red Devils have been linked with De Jong for most of the season, but a deal is yet to be wrapped up.
A major stumbling block is the significant chunk of wages owed De Jong by Barca.
The Dutch midfielder is also not particularly convinced about a move to Old Trafford and returned to training with the LaLiga side.
Now, United’s hopes of landing the 25-year-old have been dealt another blow with Premier League rivals Chelsea thought to have entered the race for the midfielder.
Barcelona are said to be aware that the Blues are preparing a formal offer for De Jong. They have made their interest known over the past few hours with a bid expected to be lodged.
