Why I Married My Second Wife – Yul Edochie

Famous Nollywood actor and politician Yul Edochie has revealed why he married his on-screen lover Judy Austin Muoghalu.

In April, the 40-year-old actor wowed his fans, colleagues, and social media after sharing photos of his baby and new wife on his Instagram page.

The actor said that it was time for the world to meet his son, Star Dike Munachimso Yul Edochie, whom he loves as much as his other children.

However, the actor posted a nine-minute video on his Facebook page on Friday titled, ‘Why I Married a Second Wife’.

He said: “It has been an incredible period of my life; Ever since the news that I married a second wife, it’s been crazy.”

The actor said that he has been receiving calls and messages from fans all over the world since the controversy in his marriage broke out.

Yul, who started his acting career 17 years ago, said that his fans, family and colleagues deserve to know why he married a second wife.

In the video, the father of four said he married a second wife because he couldn’t let go of his colleague-turned-wife.

According to him, a man can love two women.

He also said that he couldn’t let her go because of the impact it had on his life.

He said: “At this stage in my life, I think it is possible for a man to love two women because two women can contribute differently to a man’s life.

Someone can’t walk into your life and make such an impact, and you just can’t let this person go. Of course, many people would say, as a married man, why did you allow a woman into your life? I said I was wrong and took the blame for it.

“These things happen. Let’s be honest. I realized I couldn’t let an amazing woman walk out of my life.

“These are wonderful women in the city. They bring different things to the table. You really can love two women at the same time. I thought it was not possible, but now I realize that it is possible.”

Yul married his first wife, May, at the young age of 22, in 2004, after dating for six years.

The couple celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary in October 2021.


Judy and Yul started working together when she produced and played the lead in the theatrical film ‘Native Girl’.

It was my first time directing or making a movie. In the film, she played the shy wife of Yul, an international businessman.

In addition to acting and directing, he also said that Yul financially supported the project. She said that it cost her N4 million to produce the film.

In 2017, the luxurious French fragrances of Oros introduced the couple as brand ambassadors.

Judy used to celebrate Yul on her page, but people assumed he was a young colleague doing what was necessary for a superior.

The working relationship soon turned into a marriage.

In the midst of the drama currently plaguing Yul’s marriage, his equally famous father Pete Edochie, through a statement written by his older brother, has parted ways with Yul’s second wife.

Yul, who graduated from the University of Port Harcourt, where he received a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts, followed in the footsteps of his father, a veteran Nigerian actor.

His brother, Uche, an accomplished post-war and contemporary Nigerian painter, revealed that Yul informed them of his decision to marry a new wife, and they strongly advised him against it.

He also said that the family is as shocked as Nigerians on social media.

Yul and May have four children: three boys and one girl. Their names are Danielle, Kambi, Karl and Victory.
